Our editorial process is designed to produce drafts that sound like you, on your worst day, written from your own memories, in 60 seconds.
Step 1: The memory form
Every HonestWords piece starts with a short memory form (5–15 questions) tailored to the moment. Questions are designed by the founding editorial team to extract specific people, memories, and tone — not biographies. The richer your answers, the more authentic the draft.
Step 2: AI-assisted drafting
Your form answers are sent to a high-performance language model that has been prompted with a verbatim system prompt written by the founding editor. The model writes a personalized draft in under 60 seconds, written in your voice, with stage directions, in plain English.
Step 3: Your editorial control
You receive the draft on a private link. You may edit anything inline, download as text, or copy into your own document. The piece is yours.
Step 4: Privacy & retention
Your form answers and the resulting draft are stored on a private link for 24 hours, then purged. We do not republish your story. We do not train models on your inputs. Your data is yours.
Step 5: Free rewrites
If the draft doesn't feel right, reply to your Stripe receipt email within 7 days and we'll re-run the draft at no cost. Refunds honored within the same window.
